Low frequency output on the Behringer UCA202
To drive the bassbox
directly from a computer, we modified a Behringer UCA202 USB audio interface.
The bassbox
requires very low frequencies (down to 0.2 Hertz).
Unfortunately, low frequency signals are rejected by DC-filtering capacitors in most audio-interfaces.
We simply replaced a bunch of 10 microfarad capacitors in the Behringer UCA202 by
1000 microfarad types and put the whole in a larger metal case (using female Neutrik jacks
instead of the original cinch connectors).
Using a dual channel oscilloscope and some test-signals (generated with
PureData,
SuperCollider and
CSound), we observed a much better low frequency response.
